The E.R.I. Group announced the recipients of this year’s Richard Miller Education Award.

The award has been supporting individuals from E.R.I. member companies in their educational and training pursuits for over 20 years.

This year’s awardees, Carson McComb, Peyten Hanson, Erin Eileen Feeleus, Nate Haugen, Victor Hugo de Sousa de Melo, and Molly Powell Rideout, each received a $1,000 cheque to aid in furthering their education.

“We congratulate each of them on their success and wish them well in their chosen vocations,” the goroup’s announcement stated. “We also applaud all of our applicants this year with furthering their training or education.”

This year, Carson will be attending his first year of a four-year program at the University of Alberta Medicine, with the ultimate goal of obtaining his Doctor of Medicine degree.

Peyten-Hanson-140x105.jpgPeyten Hanson of Spruce Grove, Alberta, is entering her first year of a two-and-a-half-year Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. Peyten is starting her postsecondary education towards her ultimate goal of becoming a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.

Erin Eileen Feeleus of Headingley, Manitoba, is entering her third year of studies at the University of Winnipeg in the Faculty of Education. While attending school, Erin has also been working in childcare for the past four years at a daycare center, which has given her the opportunity to broaden her experience with children of all ages. Erin’s ultimate goal is to become a teacher to contribute to the development of the next generation.

Nate Haugen of Blackstock, Ontario, is attending his first year of studies in Mechanical Technology at Durham College. Nate was selected this year to compete at the Ontario Skills Competition (Provincial finals for Motive Power), where he finished in second place.

Victor Hugo de Sousa de Melo of Granby, Quebec, came to Quebec in 2022 from Brazil. Victor’s goal is to become a general surgeon. He is currently enrolled at Centre régional intégré de formation, where he is in the process of completing Formation Générale, a certificate needed to pursue his education in Canada since his diploma from Brazil is not recognized in Canada.

Molly Powell Rideout of Sussex, New Brunswick, is attending her first year of studies in Forest Technology at Maritime College of Forest Technology.
